Give Probiotics A Try

Give Probiotics A Try

A few years ago I was having so many digestive problems – bloating, gas, constipation, achy stomach,  discomfort after eating – that I finally got fed up and began to research the benefits of taking probiotics.

According to Webmd.com,

Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your health, especially your digestive system. We usually think of bacteria as something that causes diseases. But your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called “good” or “helpful” bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy.

When I began to look for a good probiotic to try, I was easily overwhelmed with all the options. My local naural grocery store had a great Health and Beauty section, so I went in and asked for suggestions. They recommended RenewLife probiotics because of their high potency and great quality. Now let me just say, RenewLife is not the cheapest option out there. But I decided to give them a try, and I’m so glad I did!

Within a few days, I noticed the bloating and stomach discomfort had gone away. I also stopped getting vaginal yeast infections (a wonderful side benefit!). I was hooked. I am now a firm believer in the benefit of Probiotics on my digestive system, immune system, and my whole body in general.  I even give Probiotics to my kids!

Quality probiotics have LOTS of live cultures and probiotic strains. The more the better!  So be sure to check for these:

-How many live cultures per capsule?

-How many scientifically studied probiotic strains? (Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus strains designed to re-establish digestive balance)

-Does it help relieve occasional digestive discomfort?

-Does it promote digestive and immune health?

-Is it dairy and gluten free?

-Is there a quality, purity, and potency guarantee through expiration?

If you’re not able to afford a pricey probiotic, don’t despair. There are still some good choices out there. And if one doesn’t work well for you, try another. Everyone’s body is different, and what works best for one person doesn’t always work as well for another.
